At first I was very skeptical about the new version of Adobe Photoshop, Photoshop cs5, this is because of the attachment that I had developed while working with the previous’ versions of Photoshop, the fear of the unknown as I didn’t know what to expect or get from the new version and thirdly because of the its price. My local vendor was selling it for a high price simply because the product was on high demand and he seemed to be the only one with it around.
One day as I visited my friend I found him using it and I decided to try my hands on it, I discovered that Photoshop cs5 is fun to use plus it has a new feature called the content aware fill that is used to set the area that one will work on. With this new feature you can eliminate unwanted parts or things on a photograph, get rid of dust and correct the mistakes brought about by the lens.
To use this new feature (content aware fill), first set the area that you want to work on, you will select the boundary, opacity and transparency of the area that you will be working on. This is very necessary because it’s your foundation and by getting this right you will achieve the best results. Fill this are that you will be working on with the image that you are going to retouch. You will do this by opening the images folder, select the image, drag and drop it in the working area. Make sure that the image fits in this area, you will do this by dragging the corners of the image reducing or increasing its size until it fits. Then you will start eliminating the unwanted parts, getting rid of the dust spots and correcting lens’ mistakes.
When filling in the spots I realized that Photoshop cs5 has a new capability it’s aware of the content and this capability is in the spot healing brush. This means that the brush adjusts its size to fit the spots that you want to fill automatically. This reduces the stress and hard work required in adjusting the size to an appropriate one. In other versions of Photoshop, if the edges were not good or smooth you had to crop the image and cut these edges. In Photoshop cs5 you don’t have to cut them, remember when you cut the edges you may eliminate very important things from it. The content aware fill feature will enable you to fill up the edges and retain all the important things in your photograph.
If the image is blurred due to a bad lens and seems unclear or missing some parts, you don’t have to cut these regions. You will just fill them up and retain your whole photo thanks to the content aware fill. The major advantage of using Photoshop cs5 is that you can be able to undo any changes that you make this gives you the freedom of retouching any photo the way you feel like.
